Indian Summer
T by Alexander Wang dress, H&M necklace
These ridiculous pictures was taken from 12:00 am to 3:00 in the morning. I think after a night of DIY tranny shows (I'm not a regular) and creepy bars (that are actually fronts for dirty old men to get with Korean prostitutes), we needed a serious escape.
Unfortunately, the closest thing we had was a terrible diner called GrubStake (I think the name says it all, folks).
This is Hector and Kendall right before they hit the "Portuguese corner." They are two of a few people I think naturally dress well in the city, without pretentiousness. And they are the most genuine, talented and kind people I know. Hector blogs regularly too!
It was also my friend Alix's going away party (he's moving back home to finish school at the University of Utah). This facial expression is priceless. I raided his closet before he left last weekend (Rick Owens, vintage Dior). I think it was a very smart move, yes?
We are going to miss him a lot, especially since a night with this handsome, hilarious boy is like this.

MIracle House
If you are a dance music connoisseur, you know that house music and techno wasn't meant for teenage candy ravers and douche bags that work in Silicon Valley. It used to be good, like a marriage between the funky basslines of Funkadelic and Kraftwerk's computer glitch pop. Not to mention it paved the way for cyborg electro masters like Egyptian Lover and Mantronix.
One of it's earliest forms was found in the Detroit/Chicago scene when techno music was urban music premiered on amazing dance shows like The Scene television show.
People just don't dance like this anymore, do they?
People just don't dance like this anymore, do they?

The Miracles Club are a new duo from Portland that are channeling Detroit's greatest, like Juan Atkins and Adonis. Featuring Rafael Fauria and Honey Owens (formerly of bands like Valet, Jackie O Motherfucker, Tra La La and Nudge), the Miracles Club play shimmering analog synths sprinkled over the deep, dark, bouncing rhythms. Kid 606 is even a big fan, calling the duo "badass psychedelic afrotech jams."
If you are going to be in the Bay Area November 9th, you should check them out at Donuts' Three Year Anniversary party at the Knockout. All three are amazing performers.

Nemeth

I'm finding a lot of inspiration from Christopher Nemeth's Tokyo studio in the Selby. It reminds me that I need to replace my old crap Singer and that I need to construct a chair out of twigs and thumbleweed like one I saw in a dream a few years ago that haunts me. Check out more images here.

Standing Four Foot Ten in One Sock
Miu Miu

I actually really enjoyed the Miu Miu show this season, even all the bejeweled pieces (I personally hate most embellishments but these weren't so bad). After all the heavy black we've been wearing all summer, I'd like for girls to start looking like little Lolita sexpots. I think Miuccia got the idea down perfectly. It's a little charming, a little sexy, a tad naked and a bit sweet at the same time. I especially love the incorporation of quirky cat prints too, but I'm sure that's obvious.
Limi Feu
—"C'est un peu de Yohji Yamamoto?
Just like many young women, Limi Feu is a daddy's girl. I think it's smart for Limi to recognize the importance of her heritage. In a lot of her past pieces, I thought that the Japanese staple of adrogyny was represented in a lot of her pieces even if she is recognised for being more feminine. I especially liked that she had some older, fatherly models (filling in for dad perhaps?). She may not want to be compared to her father, but that doesn't mean that she doesn't love her father's work nor will she admit that she is heavily influenced by it.
Prada
Bright red lips, fruzzy pigtails, 50s/60s references and girls strutting down a runway in short shorts (and some completely sans pants). It must be obvious that I would be a big fan of this show. I don't think I've mentioned that I am a obsessive collector of high-waisted under garments and bloomers (something that has left me with only the option of high-waisted trousers, jeans, micro-shorts and skirts, which I'm perfectly content with).
The fact that Miuccia is happy with paring grown up trenches with something associated with youthful girlishness makes me smile. I think here it works very well.
Erdem
There is a photograph of my friend Shelly's parents that my boyfriend and I are obsessed with. Imagine young Chinese-American mods in the early 1960s wearing the exact same looks as those perfect colorful cheongsam dresses and impecable pressed white shirts shown in that film I'm so obsessed about, In the Mood For Love. After seeing these Far East Asian influenced printed dresses and shoes, it reminds me of how much I love bright flowers fitted snuggly against the body. Just beautiful.
Haider Ackermann
Normally I really hate utilitarian looking clothing. The sight of cargo pockets actually makes me cringe. But I am a sucker for bold colors like saffron yellow and deep blue as well as good draping, which Ackermann used to top off a strong show of beautifully constructed dresses. I've been enjoying his work these past seasons which have variations of similar looks (impeccably constructed leather, jaw-dropping maxi/mini dresses). The last look is especially priceless.
It's refreshing to see a designer show strong this season (I'm I the only one who thought most of the show were boring? My usual favorites like Yohji, Balenciaga and CDG were all snores). I suppose I feel this way because there were very good shows during men's fashion week. This season's women's runway show seems to be feeling more pressure, and it shows.

What can I say? Always dead-on good in my opinion.

Shoot Me

Elizabeth and James ring, Deena & Ozzie lace boots (not shown), all clothing, Filippa K
Just wrapped up a photo shoot I styled for a new webshop coming soon.
This is Tarran, a beautiful and super sweet model that lives on a gorgeous 80 acre property with a horse's stable. I'm so jealous.
I had tons of fun working with such awesome photogs and such genuinely nice models.
Check out more photos from the shoot here
